BOW TIES

29 07 2008

I’ve recently been put on to bow ties. I learned how to use a sewing machine in high school, so after seeing the price of some ties, I decided to sew my own. Here are my first four ties I’ve made.

Thug Attire

Gangsters with baggy jeans? I don’t think this is a good combination. Let analyze a stereotypical “thug’s” outfit.

  • Baggy or excessively sagging pants
  • long tee and or Jersey
  • boots (Tim’s)
  • long chains
  • fitted hats 1 size larger

Now lets go over the gangster’s equipment and possible predicaments…

  • Gun/ weapon(s)
  • Drugs
  • keys to some dope ride jacked up on 40″ rims
  • Possible predicament… running from the cops or authorities

Now this opinionated blurp is addressing the attire of the said thug(s), so notice how the baggy jeans and boots don’t really match up with running away from cops. I would assume that an escape savvy gangster would have a pair of running shoes, (probably th hottest Nike Shocks or Frees) and if they were were wearing jeans that day, maybe some slim fit, boot cut jeans, and if boots were an absolute necessity, Nike Boots would do just fine.

Also, the chains would just be noise makers, like cow bells saying COPS, I’M RIGHT HERE!!! How would you keep your drugs and guns from falling out of your sagging jeans. The only way I can think of would be to walk like Dumb Donald from Fat Albert. For every five steps you take, you have to stop to fix you pants, hat, and maybe tie your shoes. Dressing this way seems to only make you stand out like a soar thumb.

Kids and thugs, it’s not cool to dress this way. But who knows, maybe the real gangsters know this, and only wannabes flock to the thug fashions.

What do you think?

I stepped out on my lunch break today and heard the radio mention The New Yorker cover having a picture of Obama dressed as a Muslim and his wife as a afro wearing militant. So I rushed back to my cubicle to see it for myself. I felt the drawing to be over the line, but art is sometimes contraversial. So I’ll leave it up to you. Here are some videos I watched. What do you think?

Elephants can paint

I just thought this was cool. I can barely draw animals, but this elephant can draw other elephants! I’d like to see’ em draw a person, then maybe I’ll buy some work.

Tokyo Flash

This past weekend, as my family gathered in Atlantic City for our annual reunion, my futurist, trend-setting cousin waltzed in wearing a sleek looking bracelet that caught my eye. It wasn’t until it started to flash green, yellow, and red lights that I realized this new toy was more than just a sleek bracelet. The gadget was actually a watch that told time according to the display of the rows of colored lights.

The watch is definitely a conversation piece; especially to the traditional watch wearers. I’m not really a watch rocker, but somehow I find my self on the Tokyo Flash website looking for a futurist watch for myself. I think I’d rock one with some Nike SB’s or some Vans and a Ono Clothing Tee. Or I could cop a sleek piece to wear with a business suit. Take a look for your self, you might like what you see, but hurry before the one you want gets discontinued (which they do pretty fast).
